Golden Futsal Team are looking forward to the upcoming UEFA-cup qualifiers later this summer. Last year they hosted their group in Helsinki, but failed to qualify after losing to Slovenia's KMN Gorica in the group`s last match, a 2-1 thriller.
Meanwhile some changes are being made to the coaching team.
After the announcement of Golden coach
Antti Lehtinen to step down from active coaching duty the reigning Finnish champions will be getting some new blood in from rival team Porin Palloilijat.
Teemu Eskola, 30, who has coached Porin Palloilijat to two consecutive podium finishes, will take over starting June 1st.
Eskola, who just signed a two year contract with Golden, is thrilled about the new coaching challenge.
-"For me this is a new step towards being a better coach. Golden is the greatest possible challenge in Finland for a coach on the club level and I`m excited to be a part of the team," Eskola said, adding that leaving long time club Porin Palloilijat is saddening for him.
The newly appointed coach is looking forward to his international debut, which he hopes will happen in Finland.
-"I hope we get to host it again, because it would be important for Futsal in Finland," he said. "We will prepare well and will be ready to advance. That too would give Finnish Futsal a boost it needs."
