Russia applies a new format: 2x25

Russian futsal Association intention to play 50 minutes match (instead of 40) was supported by FIFA on Friday, 31/07.

In his official letter Jérôme Valcke, FIFA General Secretary, appreciated Russians creative approach in developing futsal and officially allowed Russian Superleague matches 2009/2010 to be held in a new format: 2x25.

“As a pilot test, our decision is to allow you to extend the duration of futsal match to two periods of 25 minutes. We expect to receive reports from Russian FA about the outcome – said in the official letter”.
