Daily ExpressAlpha P crowned championTAMPARULI: Alpha P emerged champion of the Ladies' Open Futsal Championship after beating Rascalz 4-2 in the final at the Tamparuli Futsal centre here, Sunday.
They played safe in the first half after racing to a 2-0 lead. For their efforts, Alpha P walked home with RM300, while the runner-up received RM250.
In third place was Alpha R, who defeated Milo-Milo 3-2 in the placing play-off, who each received RM200 and RM150 respectively.
The winning teams also received certificates for their participation.
The tournament, which was organised by the Sabah Women's Football Union (PBWS) Tuaran branch, attracted 10 teams from around the West Coast zone.
In her opening speech, PBWS President, Datin Malianah Ugau said she hoped to see more women taking up football and futsal in the future.
She also urged other branches of women's football association to organise more tournaments in their upcoming activities to seek and unearth potential players for grooming in the State.
Malianah gave away the prizes to the winning teams, while PBWS committee members witnessed.
