UEFA.comSkorovich confirmed in Russia roleThursday 6 August 2009MFK Viz-Sinara Ekaterinburg coach Sergei Skorovich will lead Russia at the 2010 UEFA European Futsal Championship after his temporary appointment at the national helm was made permanent.
Dual roleSkorovich took over from Oleg Ivanov ahead of the qualifiers in March, leading Russia to beat Montenegro 7-1, Slovenia 2-0 and France 2-0. Having made his name leading Ekaterinburg to victory in the 2007/08 UEFA Futsal Cup and 2008/09 Russian Super League, Skorovich will also continue in his club role as his side attempt to win both competitions this season.
Ambitious goals"I'm very happy to sign this contract," Skorovich told uefa.com. "I'm proud to work with the national team. We have ambitious goals and one of them is to win the next European Championship in Hungary." Russia will attempt to emulate their 1999 victory when they compete in the 12-team finals from 19 to 30 January 2010, with the draw in Debrecen at 16.00CET on 24 September.
