Yorke Peninsula Country TimesSoccer shield stays on YPTuesday, 11 August 2009by
Kristin McEvoyThe YP v Jamestown Futsal Cup carnival was held at Minlaton last weekend with great results for the local teams.
A day of matches between the two Associations saw YP win 50 points to 30. Goals were tallied from all matches (U14, U16, Men and Women), the shield staying at Minlaton after the home side’s inaugural win last year.
Referees and officials came from Adelaide to oversee many of the matches. The experience for the combined sides, made up of the best players from the regular Wednesday night competition, was fantastic.
Trophies were donated by the Minlaton Basketball and Netball Association and presented by secretary, Trish Litster.
Best and fairest players were Lachie Varricchio (U14), Zac Bertoldi (U16), Lydia Burford (Women) and Chris Hull (Men).
The games were played in great spirit. The Jamestown side is looking forward to a rematch next year.
