Kickers Development Programme 2009

It has been identified that in order to have a solid squad to work with, before the club can make strides forward it must have a supportive and first-class coach. The English Development Programme is a program where emphasis is given to English players in learning to play Futsal. The coach (Rogerio Oliveira) has already introduced four English born players to the National league and will be looking to get this number up to 8 by the start of the new league season in January 2010.

These players are being drilled on a weekly basis in regular training sessions with the primary emphasis being focussed on technical and tactical aspect of the game. The decision to mix South American players with this English squad will aid the players development as Futsal is a game dominated by players knowledge and experience which are areas that many clubs fall short in the UK due to the infancy of the sport within the country.

Kickers Futsal Club is making slow but positive strides forward with their Development programme the club will be looking to educate all the players in polishing them on the sport but will be focusing initially on each players ability to defend and attack as the sport does not have any predetermined positions for the players on the court. All English players within the programme have been identified as having the necessary football attributes in speed, strength and basic football ability, but have been selected as they are believed to have the ability to cross-transfer their technical ability from football to Futsal and be prepared for the more intensified focus on the skills aspect of Futsal.

The English players improvement has been primarily due to repetitive tactics and training sessions which have been focused in developing a subconscious level of understanding on the pitch with their team mates, potentially forming a rhythmic and fluent playing pattern. Making the learning curve for the English players more fun instead of intensive, has been something planned from the beginning with each individual learning from training sessions, match scenarios and trial and error. The more training games and tournaments that we can get under these players belts will only benefit the players and the club in the long term.

With the current National league season approaching its finale, the club has already started preparing and training for the 2010 season with a view to improve on this seasons performances. With a youth section and regular coaching camps taking place at locations in London, Kent and Essex the clubs officials are clearly approaching the next 24 months in an aggressive but professional approach to place the club on the Futsal map as a leader in the development of English Futsal players and act alongside the FA as a business partner in providing English born players to the National Squad.
