According to the informations we got from England, the first ever futsal english player moving to Spain will be Doug Reed, ready to perform in the next Division De Plata, north group, competition with Lanzarote Tias Yaiza. Below a brief interview and presentation of the english national team players, former Manchester Futsal Club.

D.O.B.: 22/05/1986
Born: Birmingham, England
Height: 177cm

How did you get into Futsal?
I first played futsal in 2006, attending a training session with Manchester Futsal Club. For the next couple of years I continued to play 11-a-side alongside occasional futsal. I had been playing the traditional version of 5-a-side since I was 16 and slowly realised I preferred it to 11-a-side football because of the more influence and involvement you get in the match.

I played in The 2007 F.A. Futsal Cup for Birmingham Tigers. When the English National League began in 2008 I decided to focus more on futsal playing for Manchester Futsal Club.

How did your transfer to Lanzarote Tias Yaiza happen?
I made friends with Pablo Oliveira after meeting him at an England training camp. A few weeks later he asked me if I would like to go to Switzerland to play in a friendly tournament with a Spanish team called Ourense. Here I met their coach Sergio and mentioned to him and Pablo that I would like to play abroad if he could help find me a team. I didn’t think too much of it but then he phoned me one afternoon to say he had found a team that were interested in me. With the help of Pablo by the next morning I had signed the contract and it was arranged I would leave a week later to join the team at the start of pre-season training.

Who is your favourite player?
My favourite player is Schumacher from Interviu as he plays in the same position as I do. I think he is a complete player and his goal scoring is amazing, last season he finished as 2nd highest scorer in the Spanish league. Other players I admire are Alvaro and Cico from Murcia and Schumacher’s team-mate Daniel Ibañez.
