Cork City Official Web SiteFutsal Squad Depart for BulgariaTuesday August 18th 2009Cork City’s Futsal squad this morning flew out to Bulgaria to take part in Group A of the Preliminary Round of the UEFA Futsal Cup.
The winner of each group will then qualify for the Main Round of the competition which will take place at the end of September.
The draw sees City take on hosts MFC Varna, Moldovan side SC Tornado Chisinau and Gazi Üniversitesi Ankara of Turkey. Stuart Ashton’s side, who qualified for the competition after being crowned FAI Futsal League of Ireland Champions on March 8th.
City face home side Varna in their opening game on Thursday evening, with the games against Tornado and Gazi Üniversitesi to take place on Friday and Sunday respectively.
