Solomon Star NewsBrisolona sends out warning Wednesday, 26 August 2009BRISOLONA yesterday sent out a warning to its opponents in the Honiara Futsal League with a convincing 5–1 win over Uncles.
Brisolona, which is dominated by Kurukuru players, proved too good for the Uncles side that had most of its key players absent in their opening match of the season.
Uncles played quite strongly in the initial stages of the match but it was not long before the Brisolona side started putting together some convincing moves.
Alfred Punguika was the first on the scoresheet for the match, hitting in a cross from Elliot Ragomo.
Erekona Loea immediately scored a return goal to put Uncles on level terms with Brisolona. After that it was all Brisolona on the score cards.
They added 4 to Punguika’s opener to put themselves out of reach at 5 to 1.
Elliot Ragomo scored 2 goals, one from a long-range shot. Matthias Saru and Brent Nelson both scored 1 goal each.
Uncles relied on Eddie Ngaitini and Brian Feni who showed a lot of class but their efforts suffered from a lack of support.
Fulton Temoa came in from the interchange to strengthen their attack but Brisolona had already found its footing and held on strongly to defend their lead.
Brisolona will be very happy with their win but it was not all gold for them today. The players still showed some rustiness but this is expected to improve after a couple of matches.
Uncles is a very strong side and will certainly up their performance in their next match once all their players return to the team.
In the second match of the day Toba Kingz edged out a new side, Hurricanes, to give themselves a boost of confidence as they started their campaign in Pool A.
They came away with a 2 – 1 win with contributions from Arnold Au and John Feraka. Hurricanes’ only goal was scored by Aquila.
Action from the Honiara Futsal League will continue on Friday and on Saturday.
