THE 2ND WAFF FUTSAL FOR MEN - DAY 1 REPORT

The 2nd West Asian Football Federation (WAFF) Futsal Championship for men kicked-off on 31/8/2009 in Amman, Jordan, with the participation of five countries after Palestine has withdrawn because its delegation was unable to get the permission from the Israeli occupation. The participants are: Bahrain, Iraq, Lebanon, Syria and the host Jordan. All matches are beeing played at the sport palace in the Al-Hussein Sport City in Amman.

The first match witnessed Jordan beating Syria 4-1 after Jordan managed to control the match most of the time and scored four goals through Moh'D Naji in the 14th minute, followed by the second goal by Fahd Al-Qawasmi in the 16th minute. Few seconds later Ahmad Aqel scored the 3rd goal before Al-Qawasmi did the fourth. Syrian goal came in the 40th minute by Muhammed Estanbulle.

The second match saw Iraq defeating Lebanon 2-1 in the first surprise of the championship. Lebanon went ahead to lead and scored its only goal from the penalty mark in the 7th minute by Hayssam Atwi, before Iraq scores the equalizer in the 11th minute by Karrar Althabeti. Iraq scored its winning goal in the 33th minute, with Lebanon pressing hard to score but in vain.
