Gold Ridge Girls into Futsal

Gold Ridge is starting to put a name for themselves in most of the sporting leagues in Honiara with their latest the Gold Ridge Futsal Girls team.

Formed this year, the Gold Ridge Futsal Girls team is gearing up to participant in this season of the Honiara Futsal Girls open league which kicks off this Saturday at the Multi Purpose Hall.

Although the name Gold Ridge will be new to Futsal in the open girl’s category this season, the players are certainly not as most of the players drafted in to form the team has already been exposed to the indoor game of Futsal.

Most players in the Gold Ridge Girls Futsal Team have played for the National girls youth squad and this has gave confidence to team Manager Martha Tolia of her team’s competitiveness in this season’s competition.

“We have been training hard for the past weeks and really looking forward for the start of the season this Saturday”, she said.

“All players from their appearance are small in size, but size is not are problem and we can do it in the open girls category”, she said.

The Gold Ridge girls futsal team plays their first match this Saturday at day one of competition.

Meanwhile Martha Tolia originated from the Gold Ridge area herself said the idea of forming the futsal team was to get involved in more sports in Honiara.

Already Gold Ridge has a team currently competing in the Honiara Netball League.

“We a fortunate to have a good sponsor backing us so we are looking to get involve in more sports in the future”, she said.
