Jordan, Iraq triumph in WAFF Futsal Champs

AMMAN: Jordan and Iraq won their opening matches in the 2nd West Asian Football Federation Futsal Championship in the Jordanian capital.

Jordan defeated Syria 4-1 at the Sports Palace with goals from Mohammad Naji, a Fahd Al-Qawasmi double and Ahmad Aqel. Muhammad Estabulle scored Syria’s only goal.

Iraq fought back from a goal down for a shock 2-1 win over Lebanon. Hayssam Atwi gave Lebanon the lead with a seventh-minute penalty but Karrar Al-Thabeti equalised four minutes later and Abdul-Razzaq Labid scored the winner on 33 minutes.

Also taking part in the tournament, which ends on Saturday, are Bahrain.
