UEFA.comDebrecen draw nears for futsal finalsThursday 17 September 2009The 12 UEFA European Futsal Championship finalists will discover their fate for next January in Hungary when the draw is made the Kölcsey Convention Centre, Debrecen, at 16.00CET next Thursday, 24 September.
Seeding potsIn the group stage, increased from the eight teams who competed in previous editions and beginning on 19 January, there will be four sections of three sides, two played at Budapest's Papp László Sportaréna and two at Debrecen's Főnix Arena. Each group will contain one team each from three seeding pots. From the first pot, hosts Hungary will be placed in Group A and holders Spain and former champions Italy and Russia drawn into the other pools. The second pot will contain Ukraine, Portugal, the Czech Republic and Serbia, and the third Slovenia, Belgium and debutants Belarus and Azerbaijan. The top two from each group will go into the quarter-finals on 25/26 January, with the semi-finals in Debrecen on 28 January and the final two days later at the same venue.
