The event, which kicked off Saturday in the city of Ora, saw a total of 2,390 players play in turn for the cause and the proceeds will be used as education expenses for Japanese-Brazilian students.
Staff members and players rushed onto the field and hugged each other at 2 p.m. when they reached the 100-hour mark.
"We usually don't get to keep playing futsal for five days straight so I have a feeling of accomplishment," said Shinya Sugie, a 28-year-old worker from Tokyo.
"I'm delighted. It's beyond words," said Elika Tozawa, one of the event's organizers and head of the Instituto Educacional Centro Nippo- Brasileiro, a Brazilian school in Oizumi, Gunma Prefecture, adding that the event provided an opportunity for both Japanese and foreign residents to interact through sports.
