Konstantin Serikov - Uzbek Futsal AssociationSergio Sapo signs three-year contract with UzbekistanUzbekistan Football Federation (UFF) signed a contract with Brazilian coach Sergio Sapo to take over reigns of Uzbekistan futsal team till 2012.
Famous coach visited the UFF headquarters in Tashkent and met the head of Uzbekistan football governing body Mirabrar Usmonov to discuss details of his contract. During meeting, Mr. Usmonov welcomed decision of Sapo to work in Uzbekistan.
UFF President said that arrival of Sapo can boost popularization and development of futsal in Uzbekistan. He added that the federation will create all necessary conditions to the Brazilian coach. In his turn, Sapo said he will work hard to develop futsal and Uzbekistan national team.
Sergio Sapo also watched several matches with participation of local clubs, which competed for Association Cup. It is planned that Sapo will hold first training with candidates to Uzbekistan national team on 14-20 September.
Speaking to futsalplanet.com, Sapo said the visit to Uzbekistan added positive emotions as I clinched Asian championship with Japan in Tashkent. It is pleasant to be here and start work in good mood, he added.
Sapo noted that he knows level of Uzbek players well and possesses general impression with the current state of futsal in the country. I believe Uzbekistan team is capable to fulfill the ambitious tasks. I followed Uzbekistan for last six years and I know their level. Though, now I will have at my disposal all players in the league, not only those, playing for national team.
