UEFA.comSpain put four past ThailandWednesday 30 September 2009The week after learning their draw for the defence of their UEFA European Futsal Championship title in Hungary, Spain showed their form with a 4-0 defeat of Thailand in Pinto.
Álvaro doubleÁlvaro gave Spain a sixth-minute lead and soon after Carlos Ortiz made it 2-0. Charlie, who made his debut in June, claimed his first international goal early in the second half after a pass from Kike, and with Thailand having introduced a flying goalkeeper, Álvaro struck again near the end in a game Spain completely dominated.
Coach pleasedSpain coach José Venancio López, whose side will face Portugal and Belarus in Group D in Debrecen at the European finals from 19-30 January, said: "It was a very good test for us. I think Thailand had a great game, defended well and were well organised, greatly improved in possession. They only lack finishing. We had some decent spells in the game and some less good ones but overall it was a positive performance. I'll take the last part of the second half when we created a lot of chances."
