Umbro International Futsal Cup 2009 pictures and review

Tournament organisers Manchester Futsal Club have declared this year’s Umbro International Futsal Cup 2009 a massive success following greater interest from around the world but also the coverage that the tournament received from local media within Manchester. The interest shown from international teams that travelled to Manchester, but also those that enquired about competing, demonstrated to Tournament Director Simon Wright that the Umbro International Futsal Cup has a bright future over the coming years. “We were delighted to have international teams competing this year and we were determined to show them our approach to delivering a first class futsal tournament. I think we done that and I’m sure this will encourage more international teams to apply next year.”

It was fitting that the final was played out by two international teams in Boenes Aires (Norway) and KPP Baraberi (Slovakia) in an entertaining showcase that saw the Slovakians clinch The Umbro International Futsal Cup 2009. KPP Baraberi Coach Martin Mlynarovi, praised the tournament organisers upon receiving this year’s trophy. “This has been a fantastic experience for the club. We have had a great time in Manchester and our hosts have ensured that everything we need is catered for. The level of competition has given us great preparation for our upcoming season and I hope that we can return to defend our trophy next year. We were impressed by the way that the tournament was organised and I would recommend more international teams to become involved”

Over the coming weeks Manchester Futsal Club will be looking at the potential format for next year’s tournament “Of course we would like to make the event bigger and have more international clubs coming to Manchester. The feedback that we have received has told us that the format needs to be changed to allow more teams to travel to Manchester. We take these comments on board and we will certainly be looking to deliver another exciting event next year” commented Marketing Manager Ilya Ovechkin.
