Solomon Star NewsAPCO Coatings supports KurukuruFriday, 02 October 2009A LEADING paint company in Solomon Islands has thrown its support behind the young Kurukuru side’s preparing for the Alfateh Intercontinental Futsal Championship in Libya.
APCO Coatings Ltd last Wednesday donated polo shirts and sports bags to the travelling contingent.
Head of APCO Coatings Solomon Islands, Binay Pal, said his company is very happy to support the National Futsal Team.
“We understand the value of football to Solomon Islanders and we are happy to assist a national representative side.”
Speaking on behalf of the Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) and the team, the SIFF General Secretary, Eddie Ngava, said the support will certainly boost the morale of the players.
“This team represents the country and when members of the community support it like APCO is doing a great sense confidence is instilled in the players.”
Ngava added the gear supplied by APCO will be part of the National Futsal Team’s uniform and this will greatly help in developing oneness and a sense of unity among the players.
The Kurukuru Captain, Elliot Ragomo, and members of the National Futsal Squad including National Futsal Coach, Dickson Kadau, received the equipment.
Earlier this week, Kurukuru received a $10,000 donation from the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands (RAMSI) office.
The national side played an exhibition match with RAMSI in front of a packed audience and won 24-1.
The Kurukurus will fly out today for the long journey to Libya.
