UEFA.comLuparense and Time relieved at successMonday 5 October 2009by
Matthew Watson-Broughton from Debrecen
Italian champions Luparense Calcio a 5 and European debutants FC Time Lviv of Ukraine both won through from UEFA Futsal Cup Main round Group 1, putting them one stage away from the finals in April. Luparense clinched first place with a 10-0 win against Hungarian hosts MVFC Berettyóújfalu, including eight Vampeta goals, with Time – who had drawn 3-3 with their main rivals earlier in the mini-tournament in Debrecen – second on goal difference following their 11-1 defeat of SC Tornado Chisinau. Both will be in the Elite round draw on 13 October, with the games next month, with uefa.com rounding up the reaction.
Vampeta, Luparense playerWe didn't know about the other teams before we came here but we knew Ukrainian futsal was of a high standard, and the Lviv team here confirmed this. However, the result for us was good and we are happy to go through. Every opponent in the next round will be difficult but we can still improve and what happens on the pitch will decide if we are good enough to reach the semi-finals, so I have no preference regarding opponents.
Anderson Pellegrini, Luparense playerWe're happy to win the group and get through because the quality was high and the Ukrainian team were very competitive. It will be hard but our target is the semi-finals.
Valeriy Legchanov. Time playerOut of the four definite possibilities for [seeded] opponents in the Elite round we would want to play Kairat Almaty because they are perhaps a weaker team than the other three. However, if we want to win the UEFA Futsal Cup then we must play teams like Interviú Madrid at some point.
Oleksandr Kondratyuk, Time playerThe match against Luparense was high quality and the Hungarian team were quite good as well.
