As published yesterday on the RFEF Official web site, the reason for the Spain's withdrawal from the first ever Confederations Cup (Alfateh Futsal Cup 2009) was basically given by a last minute change in the tournament fixture done by the Libyan FA. The decision was taken on past saturday 3rd by RFEF, due to the fact that the original fixture included a final match to be played on October 11th, while the Libyan FA communicated on past friday the new tournament ending as by October 12th. That, according to the RFEF communication, caused the spanish renounce due to a previous agreement with squad players which had fixed the team return in Spain on the 12th (playing the final on the 12th, Spain would come back just on Oct. 14th).

La Selección Española no participará en la Copa Confederaciones

03/10/2009 - La Real Federación Española de Fútbol ha decidido este sábado 3 de octubre, cancelar la participación de la Selección Española de fútbol en la Copa Confederaciones que se celebrará en Trípoli (Libia), entre el 6 y el 12 de octubre, al retrasarse la final un día con respecto al calendario previsto.

El combinado español tenía previsto viajar el lunes por la tarde a Trípoli, tras haber entrenado en Madrid el domingo por la tarde y el lunes por la mañana, para participar en el torneo que se desarrollaría entre el 6 y el 11 de octubre. La Federación Libia comunicó este viernes a la Federación que la final se posponía del día 11 al día 12 del mencionado mes. Los compromisos adquiridos con los jugadores de regresar el día 12y la imposibilidad de regresar antes del día 14, han justificado esta decisión.
