Nothing is sure, future is not shining at all for the
Intercontinental Cup. Futsal community seems not to be able to run the tournament in a "continuative" way, neither to make it officials through time (in a process like the one experienced by the former club Champions league turned into the UEFA Futsal Cup in Europe). Same speech we could do on the Recopa cup event, we will talk about it as well in future.
Back to the worldwide event, as already known Casablanca (Morocco) was ready to host the event between past October 15th-18th, counting on six clubs attending it:
->
Carlos Barbosa (Brazil)
->
Inter Movistar (Spain)
->
Viz-Sinara (Russia)
->
Glucosoral (Guatemala)
->
Chonburi Bluewave (Thailand)
->
unknown club (Morocco)
Few days until the tournament beginning, the organizing body (
Moroccan Federation in collaboration with the private company
Fabregas Sport, both assessorized and supported by
LNFS) communicated that the challenge was going to be postponed to February 2010 due to "technical" matters.
Waiting to know if the prestigious (or the supposed prestigious one!) is really going to happen or not, we can just register the polemic note sent by the
Malwee Futsal management, complaining on the fact that the
catarinense club was not invited to the competition. We can honestly understand the disappointment, considering that as
Conmebol title holder Malwee is supposed to be there instead of Carlos Barbosa, though we don't know the reasons for that and we have anyway to remind that the Intercontinental Cup is still an "invitational" tournament with no "established criteria" to take part or be admitted in it.
