Portuguese Club to hold futsal tournament, league sessions

Hudson – The Hudson Portuguese Club’s (HPC) Futsal (small-sided soccer) Pre-Season Open Tournament will take place Sunday Nov. 15 at 9:30 a.m. The entry fee is $160 per team (with referee fees included). The first-place team will win a $100 Riverview gift card, and the second-place team will receive a $50 Riverview gift card.

The tournament guarantees three 25-minute games per team; finals will have two 20-minute halves.

The third Annual HPC Futsal League will start Sunday Nov. 22. Session 1 for the Futsal League will run every Sunday for eight weeks, with play-offs Jan. 17. Session 2 runs Sundays from Jan. 24 to play-off s March 21 (bye week Feb. 14). The league now has different divisions: Division 1, Division 2 and Men’s Over 35. In the past two years, there have been between 70 and 100 players play on a weekly basis (between Thanksgiving and Easter), which helped raise more than $25,000 for the HPC.

For league play, each team must have eight players on their roster paid in full before the start of the team’s second game. The cost for HPC members is $65 per player, $80 for nonmembers; the referee fees are included in the cost.

Free agents (individual players) are always welcome.
