The AFC.comIraq and Lebanon qualify for Futsal finalsSunday, 18 October 2009DOHA: Iraq and Lebanon have reached for the finals of the AFC Futsal Championship 2010 after winning their semi-finals at the West Zone qualifying competition on Saturday.
Iraq scored a 4-0 victory over Qatar before Lebanon overcame Kuwait 1-0. The two victors will meet in Sunday’s final at the Gharafa Stadium, before which Qatar and Kuwait will face off to earn the third and last berth from the West Zone for the finals.
Iraq and Qatar were all square until the 26th minute when Mustafa Mahdi put the Iraqis ahead. The goal appeared to break Qatar’s hearts as Iraq pushed forward and scored three more through Hashim Al Saraf, Mustafa Hamzah and Karrar Al Thabeti.
Lebanon had it tough against Kuwait and it took a Jean Fadel goal in the 36th minute to earn them victory.
The West Zone qualifiers featured six teams with Bahrain and Jordan eliminated at the group stages.
