Errea International Futsal Cup - day 2 Tuesday, 20 October 2009Chippenham Futsal Club defeated hosts Middlesbrough, inspired by England Captain Luke Ballinger, who scored four goals in the Errea Cup last night at Thornaby. Universidad Catolica then edged out a classic encounter 9-7 against the team from Wiltshire in one of the best games ever witnessed in Teesside.
Boro, although still top, must hope that East Coast can cause an unlikely upset today in one of the final two group games, as should there be a three-way tie, Boro will end up third on head to head results and will miss out on a place in the Errea International Futsal Cup final.
So, with the likely final to be a repeat of last night’s game, it will certainly be one worth watching. The tournament has been a huge success so far with some high quality futsal being played, and several international players on show.
The final kicks off at 8pm on Wednesday at Thornaby Pavilion, entry is £1, or free for selected schools colleges and community groups.
The doors open at 5pm and the third place playoff kicks off at 6pm. Trophy presentations and awards take place directly after the final.
