BernamaFelda To Consider Extending NFL Sponsorship Contract Till 2014October 22, 2009KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 22 (Bernama) -- Felda will consider sponsoring the National Futsal League (NFL) together with the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) till 2014.
Its chairman, Tan Sri Dr Mohd Yusof Noor, said till now Felda was very satisfied with the running and sponsorship of the tournamant since being involved in 2007.
"We feel the RM6.5 million spent by Felda is very proper and reasonable based on the extraordinary reception by society at various levels," he told reporters after launching the NFL 2009 at Dewan Perdana Felda here on Thursday.
Mohd Yusof said sponsorshiip of the league was also seen as a success as many men and women who represent the country in the game were a result of the league.
"Clearly it can be considered as 'a good and important factory' to produce talented players.
"We have no qualms to approve phase two of the sponsorship beginning next year to 2013/14 after the first phase from 2007 till 2009 ends but it depends on the minister in charge of Felda to approve it," he said.
Mohd Yusof said there were signs of change, especially by the young Felda generation, who were interested in sports, especially futsal.
"We are also planning to build 19 futsal complexes equipped with various facilities costing RM30 million to hasten the development of the sport," he said.
Meanwhile, 16 men and women teams confirmed participation for the thirs edition of the NFL that offers total prize money of RM115,000.
The tournament will be run as a league with four circuits beginning in Langkawi, Kedah (Nov 14 and 15); Kuala Terengganu, Terengganu (Dec 5 and 6); Jengka, Pahang (Dec 12 and 13) and Shah Alam, Selangor from Jan 1-3, 2010.
