RAMI HULAYYELMonday, October 26, 2009BAHRAIN'S delegation will start departing for Vietnam today to compete in the Third Asian Indoor Games which gets underway on Friday in Hanoi.
The Bahrainis are set to take part in five disciplines - indoor athletics, swimming, futsal, snooker and electronic games 'Playstation'.
Bahrain's futsal team will be the first to arrive in Hanoi for the 10-day event. Leading the team is delegation director Khalid Al Dossary and consists of team manager Mohammed Al Ghanaim, coach Mahmood Mansoor, physiotherapist Ali Al Ruwaie and 12 players.
The futsal team is the same that took part in the West Asian Championship which concluded recently in Doha where the team finished third.
Leading Bahrain's hopes will be skipper Jassim Al Chuban. Abdulla Abbbas, Ahmed Mohammed, Alli Mohammed, Haamd Al Rumaihi and Hani Abdulla, Majdi Masa'ad, Mohammed Abdulrazzaq, Mohammed Darwish, Mohammed Al Sindi, Abdulla Al Dossary and Sayed Mohammed Abbas are the other members of the team.
The athletics and snooker teams will follow on Friday. The athletics team will be headed by Ali Al Sherooghi.
Other members are Bahrain Athletics Association's technical director Maden Lounas, administrator Mohammed Ali, coach Vladimir Brigadniy, Tolosa Koto and eight athletes.
The team is to be led by short-distance runner Mohammed Farhan. Long-jumper Mohammed Yousef, Salem Nasser, Shitaye Eshete Habtegebrel, Tejitu Daba Chalchissa, Mimi Belete, Gladys Cherotich Kibiwot and Alemu Bekele are the other members of the team.
Leading the snooker team is Bahrain Billiards and Snooker Federation member Yousef Mohammed. The team consists of Ahmed Ghulam, Hussain Mahmood and Hisham Al Ssqer.
On Saturday, the electronic games' 'Playstation' team will head for Hanoi with Hisham Al Kooheji heading the delegation which includes players Ahmed Shukri and Mohammed Al Ghazali.
The swimming team will then follow on Monday. It consist of coach Dhafer Ahmed Buzaid beside swimmers Omar Yousef and Sufyan Al Malki.
The Asian Indoor Games is a multi-sport event being held every two years. The Games are regulated by the Olympic Council of Asia. The first Games were held in 2005 in Bangkok, Thailand.
