Fiji Daily PostLautoka schools to introduce Futsal14-Nov-2009By
Maika KasamiTHE Lautoka Secondary School will become the first in the country to introduce Futsal soccer in the district from next year.
Lautoka Secondary School Football Association (LSSFA) President Aminesh Ram said the Inter-Secondary School Futsal League through the Lautoka Football Association, will kick-off their soccer season next year.
Ram said they would be soon having clinics for Futsal coaches and referees.
The Lautoka Central College teacher said no active work was carried by the Fiji FA Futsal development team in the west.
“We have seen no efforts by the Futsal west development team to promote the sport so we’ve decided to make a move and introduce the sport amongst secondary schools,” Ram pointed out.
“We’ve heard and seen a lot about the abbreviated code and we now want to start our own.”
“The participants in the clinic will be all the coaches of the schools and the referees in Lautoka affiliated to Lautoka FA.”
The 2010 LSSFA soccer season will begin and end with the Futsal League.
“In between we will have the Verma’s Cup and the normal league that we have annually,” added Ram.
