The AFC.comAFC Futsal Committee meetingSunday, 22 November 2009KUALA LUMPUR: The AFC Futsal Committee meeting was held on Saturday with the focus on enhancing the status of the sport in Asia.
Junji Ogura, of Japan, chaired the meeting, which recapped the progress made in 2009 and discussed plans for the future.
The Uzbekistan Football Federation’s Alisher Nikimbaev also presented a report outlining its plans to host the AFC Futsal Championship 2010 Finals in Tashkent in May next year.
The committee also re-confirmed Iran as the host of the first continental club competition for futsal, the AFC Futsal Club Championship.
The tournament was scheduled for the summer of 2009 in Isfahan but postponed to 2010 because of security issues.
The key decision made during the meeting was to approve a proposal that the next edition of the AFC Futsal Club Championship will feature eight clubs, instead of the current 10.
All decisions must be ratified by the AFC Executive Committee, which meets on November 24.
