UEFA.comFrench flair proves the winnerThursday 26 November 2009Carqueiranne Calcetto Squadra have claimed first prize in the second edition of the Ford Team Challenge on the UEFA Training Ground, their sublime skills winning the French grassroots futsal team a Ford Transit Minibus.
Winning entriesCCS edged out Greek side PSN Hania for the main prize while Hampton School from England finished third and Poland's Renska Team fourth. While all four clubs take home playing and training kit courtesy of adidas, CCS alone will have the opportunity to wave the UEFA starball banner before a match in this season's UEFA Champions League – an added bonus alongside the Ford Transit.
Terrific trioFabien Druel, Benjamin Druel and Alan Lampin starred in the winning entry, displaying eye-catching skills in the one-minute time frame to follow inaugural winners Bacon's College of London on to the roll of honour. CCS coach Rachid Chachou said of the success: "I'm very happy and so surprised. When the club president told me we'd won the minibus, I couldn't believe it. It's an honour that we have the chance to drive a minibus courtesy of UEFA."
Futsal passionCCS were founded in 2004 by three friends with a passion for futsal who wanted to create a team in their region. Club president Michael Candida said: "This is a great pleasure for my team and for all the people who work with us. I'm still struggling to believe what has happened – it is unbelievable. Because we are a small club with small financial and material means, this minibus is going to help a lot. I want to thank UEFA for this very beautiful gift."
Indian prizeCompetitors from eight countries entered this year's Ford Team Challenge showing ever more inventive ideas and outrageous skills. An entry from a team representing an orphanage in India will receive a special bonus prize from UEFA. You can watch this, plus all the winning challenges
