Middlesbrough Futsal Club Official Web SiteBoro looking for sponsorshipSunday, 22 November 2009Middlesbrough Futsal Club are on the search for a sponsor for 2010 as the FA Futsal League North Champions look to build on their successful 2009 campaign.
Hertel, who were main club sponsor in Boro’s most successful season, indicated that they would be unable to commit to the same level of funding, which opens up the door for another sponsor to adorn the champions’ new strip – a nod to an early Middlesbrough design with a blue polka dot collar.
Ian Dalgarno of Hertel UK added that the decision was purely financial. "We are very happy to have contributed to Middlesbrough's success this season and the coverage we gained from being the main club sponsor was excellent. Due to the financial climate we are in we can't commit to continuing as main sponsor. I would urge any company looking to sponsor a local team, with national and international ambition to sponsor Middlesbrough Futsal Club as they look to build on their success."
Middlesbrough are an amateur team, ran by volunteers, but a certain level of funding is needed to ensure the club can compete at the highest level. Without a sponsor, the team wouldn’t be able to operate, or would be asking players to pay out of their own pockets for things such as training, away travel, hall hire and kit, something Chairman Damon Shaw is keen to avoid.
“We have a very good level of player for next season, most play 11-a-side on a Saturday and get paid. If they had to pay to play futsal for Middlesbrough, then we wouldn’t be able to attract the players we need to defend our title. I want to thank Hertel for their support and hopefully we can still work together in some way. However, we now need to find new sponsorship for 2010.”
Middlesbrough’s season starts in January, with an away trip to Manchester on 10th January before hosting Leeds at Thornaby Pavilion. Time is running out for Middlesbrough as the season fast approaches. As well as having the logo on the strip, companies would receive excellent coverage in Teesside through local media and community links the club has.
Any company interested should contact Damon Shaw on 07807 146 319 or email damon@borofutsal.co.uk
