If you think that european futsal is going to do something in order to save its identity, you're wrong. In Hungary 2010 you'll enjoy the best of continental and brazilian futsal, as national associations keep on working on the massive "naturalization" of south american talents rather than building their own future with local young players formation. It's disappointing to find out that a nation like Russia, which featured some magnificent players like Shayakhmetov, Khamadjev, Prudnikov and many others, and that could recently celebrate an European Under 21 title in St. Petersburg, seems to be in need to play with 4 brazilians players in the roster. After starting with Pelè and Cirilo and then replacing the first one with Pula, now the team announced for the Czech challenge also features Robinho (former Charleroi Action 21) and Eder Lima, TTG-Ugra striker.
On our side (Futsalplanet.com) we strongly believe this is not the right way for european futsal. We're not here to criticize Italy, rather than Spain, Portugal, Russia, Azerbaijan, Belgium ecc ecc, but we're just ready to bet that each of those countries can produce wonderful players on their own. Hard task, sure satisfaction.
