460 students of elementary school participate in futsal competition

As many as 460 students from 46 state elementary schools (SDN) in Cilincing sub district North Jakarta took part in a futsal competition Saturday (12/12) run by North Jakarta Sub Department for Basic Education, contesting rotating cups of the sub department. This event was held at the front yard of SDN 5 Cilincing.

Head of North Jakarta Sub Department for Basic Education, Istarningtias says this competition is part of extracurricular activities aimed at enhancing students’ achievement in sports.

This event is also intended to early develop potentials and talents of the children. "Students’ skills, can not be denied, stem from our efforts to stimulate and educate the students through sustainable development process," said Istaningtias, on the sidelines of the competition, Saturday (12/12).

By early development, it is expected, in the future, can deliver professional and excellent athletes at both national and international levels, she says.

In the meantime, head of SDN 03 Semper Barat, H Amir admits very welcomed to this competition, saying this activity not only can develop students’ potential in sports, but can also strengthen bonds of relationship among students. "We should not see this futsal match only from the perspective of who the winner, or who the lost; instead, we should also see this competition as a media to strengthen bonds of relationship," he said.

This futsal competition runs from 11 to 15 Dec. 2009.
