A FUTSAL soccer tournament scheduled to be held at the Tattersalls Leisure Centre was cancelled yesterday.

The three-day tournament, which was advertised on a local newspaper, attracted local interested teams.

However, it turned sour when teams returned home without playing a game.

The TLC was closed when Times Sports went to cover the event yesterday.

A sports council security guard said a lot of people turned up for the event, which was advertised in the local dailies.

"I'm not sure what's happening but all I understand was that a lot of people came here and asked about the futsal tournament. They all returned home when I informed them that there was no tournament," he said.

Efforts to contact tournament official Fahim proved futile.
