Charles KadamanaGreen Valley A Futsal team took first place in the “Christmas against Crime Futsal Games” after defeating Adeliua A 6-3 in the grand final at the Bible Way Center at Borderline yesterday.
Played on a muddy and slippery pitch both teams kicked off the final in an entertaining pace as player’s skidded from one end of the field to the other.
Both teams during the pool games last week had earlier contested against each other but it was Adeliua who walked out with the 2-1 victory then. That was when the field was in good condition.
But yesterday with the inclusion of two Koloale FC players Ezra Sale and Jeffrey Bule, Green Valley turned the match into their favour.
Both men helped Green Valley claim victory with their experience with Bule scoring three of their teams’ goals.
Sale contributed with two goals of his own and one of their players added one goal to seal the victory.
Adeliua also with the inclusion of Koloale goal keeper Shadrack Ramoni who played striker during the game tried hard but the muddy pitch denied all his chances.
Eighteen futsal teams from borderline and surrounding communities participated in the games.
The Games were organized to foster positive environment for the youths of Borderline as well for the surrounding communities.
Volleyball, Table Tennis, balloon race, bobbing for apples and egg, the spoon race and other sports were also played during the games.
Prizes were awarded to the winning teams along with consolation prizes after the final game.
