The Brunei TimesJan 16th, 2010ADMINISTRATION Team ‘A’ scored a double yesterday when they won both the League Cup and FA Cup categories of the 5th Islamic Dakwah Centre Five-a-Side Futsal Championships 2009 at the Universiti Brunei Darussalam’s Sports Complex in Tungku Link.
Administration Team ‘A’ defeated Administration Team ‘B’ 3-1 to clinch the League Cup crown.
Team ‘A’ had taken a 1-0 lead at halftime before Team ‘B’ pulled one back early in the second half.
However, Team ‘A’ regained the lead right after the restart and were in cruise control before scoring a late goal to seal the victory.
The League Cup champions then beat the Propagation Dakwah Team ‘A’ 3-2 on penalties after the final match ended 1-1 to take the FA Cup title.
Administration Team ‘A’ got an early lead in the first half and controlled much of the game. However, they failed to clear a corner in the second half and allowed their opponents to equalise with an easy tap-in.
“We only managed to train twice before the tournament, but I guess luck was on our side and that helped us win the competition,” said Mohd Amni Mohd Ali, the captain of Administration Team A, in an interview with The Brunei Times yesterday.
“The other teams really gave us a good fight but the whole team stepped up today (Friday),” added Mohd Amni, who scored his team’s only goal in the final of the FA Cup.
The Islamic and Guidance Consecration Team took third place in the League Cup after defeating the Propagation Dakwah Team ‘B’ 4-3 on penalties. The match had ended goalless.
Propagation Dakwah Team ‘A’ were third in the FA Cup.
A total of 11 teams competed in the two-day event.
