Bristol City FCFUTSAL FUN FOR ACADEMYThu 21 Jan 2010Bristol City's Academy is hosting a major FA Premier League Futsal Festival on Sunday, January 24th.
City have invited Chelsea, Birmingham City, Reading, Fulham and MK Dons for the Under-9 and Under-11 tournaments this Sunday.
Futsal is a fast-moving indoor five-a-side football game, where there are no overhead height rules with rotating substitutions. The tournament will operate on a round-robin basis.
Tim Kirk, from the club's Academy, said: "In other countries around the world such as Spain, Portugal, Brazil, Argentina, Futsal is a very popular game drawing crowds in excess of 30,000 people.
"Owing to the quick nature of the game and the rules which give the attacking player the advantage, it is exciting to watch and encourages lots of skills and goals; it is no wonder the aforementioned countries have a reputation for developing flair players.
"Futsal in this country is only just taking off and Bristol City is pleased to be able to introduce this form of training to our academy players.
"The tournament will be a fantastic opportunity for our boys to showcase their talent alongside some of the best players in the country at these age groups."
The event takes place @Futsal, Unit 29, Techno Trading Estate, Bramble Road, Swindon, SN2 8HB.
