FC Enfield bang in 16 as they open their National league for 2010 with a win

Futsal Club Enfield v Brantford FC CST Futsal Club at Turin Grove School, Edmonton

Sunday morning saw FC Enfield kick of season 2010 in the Southern League with an impressive victory over Brentford Futsal Club. Head Coach Martin May started with Sean Wiggan, Kirt Osborn, Grant Osborn, Frazer John and Justin Dickinson. The rest of the squad was Jamie Dizenzo returned after a season away from the club, Youth players Craig Middleton and Alfie Robbins are the first players to come up through the youth system, Danny Buglione son of former Enfield FC player Martin Buglione and Steve Fairgrieve from Cheshunt.

Justin Dickinson struck after only 6 seconds to make it 1-0 and Enfield were 2-0 up just after a minute when Captain Grant Osborn found the visitors net. Brentford hit back and levelled the scoring with goals in the 2nd and 5th minutes. Frazer John put Enfield back in front on 10 minutes, and Enfield increased their lead with goals from Grant Osborn and Alfie Robbins to make it 5-2 after 15 minutes.

Brentford were not going to give up in there first ever national league game and struck again to make it 5-2 on 18 minutes. Grant Osborn completed his hat-trick within 26 seconds to push his side back in front again. With a long penalty after Brentford had committed 5 fouls to make it 6-3. In the final minutes with Enfield also on 5 fouls Brentford closed up the gap making it 6-4 and then 6-5 both from the long penalty spot.

The second half saw Enfield come out strong once again, scoring 5 goals in 8 minutes to make it 11-5. Grant Osborn score his 4th to make it 7-5, Justin Dickinson got his 2nd of the game to make it
8-5, Grant score again to make it 9-5, then Alfie Robbins got his second of the game to make it 10-5 and take Enfield into double figures.

Justin Dickinson completed his hat-trick to make it 11-5 on 8.53, at this point Enfield could have gone on and scored so many more, but Brentford were not going to roll over that easy. They scored once again to make it 11-6, just before Justin pushed his goal tally to 4 in the game making it 12-6.

Brentford scored again to make it 12-7 after 12 minutes, But two quick goals from Frazer John and Kirt Osborn pushed Enfield into a 14-7 lead. With 3 minutes to go Enfield could see the final buzzer in sight and eased off the pace a bit having played full on for the whole of the game, pressing there opponents all over teh pitch.

Brentford hit twice to make it 14-9, then the Osborn brothers banged in one each to make it 16-9, Kirt scoring his 2nd of the game and Grant completing a great performance on the day with his 6th goal of the game. Brentford scored two late goals to take them into double figures and pushing to 16-11, but it was too late.

The young side had shown some fight and did not let Enfield have all the game, they will improve over the season and sides will have to be on there guard or could be picked off. As for Enfield, This was a great start to the season, three points in teh bag from there 1st game. They are sitting in 3rd place in teh division after the other southern matches:
