Get ReadingRoyals to coach at Futsal centreREADING FC are forging closer links with Swindon-based Futsal Ltd, which provides the ultimate indoor five-a-side football experience.
They are to provide the coaches for the new Futsal Scholarship Programme which is being launched this weekend.
The latest development will see scholars receiving up to 10 hours of weekly training.
They will also have opportunities to watch Royals train while also going to see matches at Madejski Stadium.
All learning will take place under the direction of former England national Futsal coach Graeme Dell and Reading Academy coach Lee Herron.
Herron said: “We are delighted to be involved with such a forward-thinking project.”
The launch of the Futsal Scholarship follows the successful implementation of a joint-learning programme currently in place between Futsal and Swindon Academy at Key Stage 4.
The course is the first of its kind in the United Kingdom.
Youths completing the two-year courses will gain BTEC qualifications from the pioneering virtual sixth form environment at Futsal’s Techno Trading Estate arena.
Herron added: “Futsal is a great game where you need to think quickly and play quickly, and we know it will play a major role in their development as players and people.”
Full details of the scholarship scheme, which will start in September, are being announced to parents and potential scholars at the Futsal Arena in Swindon tomorrow at 11am.
Futsal’s managing director is Frank Rodriguez, the manager of Reading FC’s women’s team who are currently pushing for promotion to the National Division of the FA Premier League
