The AFC.comFoolad Mahan get shot-in-the-arm with Iran titleFriday, 12 February 2010TEHRAN: Foolad Mahan Sepahan have received a big boost ahead of the inaugural AFC Futsal Club Championship (March 4-12) after winning the Iran Futsal Super League crown with two rounds to spare.
Foolad Mahan were held 2-2 by Sadra Shiraz in their 24th round game but a 9-8 defeat of title contenders Shahid Mansouri at the hands of Sherkat Melli Hafari handed them the title.
Foolad Mahan are on 59 points, eight more than Shahid Mansouri while Sherkat Melli Harafi are third in the 14-team standings with 45 points.
Foolad Mahan will kick-start their maiden continental campaign on March 5 against Kyrgyzstan’s AUB Altyn Tash Bishkek in Group A. Nagoya Oceans (Japan) and Stroitel Zarafshan (Uzbekistan) are the other teams in this pool.
