The AFC.comAFC urges MAs to develop futsalThursday, 04 February 2010KUALA LUMPUR: AFC Deputy General Secretary Hasan Al Sabah urged AFC’s Member Associations to emulate the examples of Brazil and Spain and hone their overall football skills through futsal.
Al Sabah said Asian countries have the ability to be the best in futsal if they worked hard at it.
"Brazil and Spain based their football on futsal,” said Al Sabah at the opening ceremony for the AFC Elite Futsal Coaching Instructors Course on Thursday.
“They are always concentrating on small size games like futsal, beach football and street soccer.
“That's why their players have such fantastic skills. In fact, they trained football together with futsal, to further develop their individual skills and reaction." said Al Sabah.
"An average footballer can be a good futsal player if he puts in more effort to study and develop his game. Futsal is a fast growing sport in Asia and we at AFC would like to see more and more people playing futsal."
Al Sabah also revealed AFC is keen to re-establish a futsal department to further promote this popular sport.
"Futsal is one of the key elements of Vision Asia and one of the first lines of Education. We will never neglect it."
The Instructor for the course is José Venancio López of Spain.
