BORO v LIVERPOOL - Match preview

MIDDLESBROUGH CALL FOR FANS!

17 Feb 2010

Boro can go top of the FA Futsal League North in time for the club’s third birthday next week as they take on league newcomers Liverpool at Thornaby Pavilion on Sunday 21st February, kick off 2pm.

Middlesbrough currently occupy second place behind Sheffield and the league is already taking shape with Sheffield, boasting three former Boro captains and several England internationals in their ranks, leading the way. Sheffield, and the other five teams aren’t in action this week so Middlesbrough can get ahead in the title race and gain a psychological boost over their rivals with a win.

The FA Futsal League North champions turn three years old on Tuesday 23rd February, and in their short history have taken the indoor beautiful game by storm, winning two national titles and four regional titles and becoming one of the best known English clubs in the world with fans in Brazil, Australia, Malaysia and Uruguay.

This has prompted lovemiddlesbrough to jump on board and support the club. The partnership will be officially launched at the match, on Sunday, with lovemiddlesbrough merchandise being given out on the day and Boro wearing their new blue and red strips adorning the lovemiddlesbrough logo.

Chairman and manager Damon Shaw would like to see a bumper crowd at the pavilion on Sunday to support his young team. “We have a great bunch of boys representing Middlesbrough who deserve the support of the town. The team is full of local lads who brought a major title back to Teesside last season and are aiming to go even further this year." Shaw said.

“We’ve started well and despite losing 20 years of experience from last season, the team has improved. There is huge potential in this team and our long term aim is to play in the futsal Champions’ League (UEFA Futsal Cup). We’re on track for that with the age and potential of the squad, but right now we need support in our home matches, starting on Sunday.”

It only costs £2 to watch Middlesbrough for adults, £1 for under-16s or £4 for a family ticket – 2 adults, 2 children – and the doors open at 1pm. It is a warm atmosphere, an exciting game and a perfect event for families to attend.
