Shamrock Rovers Official Web SiteRovers Futsal team in last 16 Friday, 26 February 2010Rovers' futsal team will face their latest test in the FAI Futsal Cup tomorrow when they travel to Gormanston College for a last 16 clash with the Ulster Senior League select.
The Hoops finished second in their first round group but will travel with confidence to meet the Ulster side, who topped their section.
Recent friendly performances against Alpha and Sporting Fingal have been very encouraging for the Hoops.
"We've kept three clean sheets in a row now and in futsal that's fairly impressive. It says a lot about the quality of our keeper John Somers and the attitude of the lads as a group not to concede," explained manager Stephen Finn.
"From what I've been told, the Ulster Senior League have some talented players in their ranks and it'll be a good test for us but we'll go into the game looking to show what we're capable of.
"We're without a couple of players with futsal international Philip McDonagh and Alvin Lawlor still injured while our captain Anderson Nunes and Peter Finn are both out of the country.
"Ian Byrne has been captain for us since this competition began and he has really impacted in our games."
All Hoops fans are invited to travel up the M1 for the clash which kicks-off at 1.15pm.
