Celebrity Futsal Game: Brunei Vs Malaysia

Saturday, 27 February 2010

BungaBandar Seri Begawan - Artistes from Brunei and Malaysia will be going up against each other in a one of a kind friendly futsal match on April 11.

Danny X-Factor, Fiz Fairus, Kamal (Bio-Nik), Angah Raja Lawak, Johan Raja Lawak, Nabil Raja Lawak and Zizan Raja Lawak are set to lace up for Malaysia, while Adi from A Band Once, Alilah, Jai Beracun, Patchi and the DJ trio of Daffy, Diddy and Zamri will fly the flag for Brunei.

Organised by Ryan Fayyad Event Management, kick-off is set for 3.30pm.

Never before have entertainers from the two countries gone head to head in such an event, and they should be happy that they've signed up since it's for a good cause - a portion of the proceeds from the game at the Indoor Stadium of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas will go towards Persatuan KanakKanak Cacat (Kaca).

"We are used to bringing in artistes to perform, but this is the first time anything like this has been done before," said Hj Tajudin Hj Mohamad, the Ryan Fayyad Event Management's business development manager, during a Press conference at a restaurant in Kiarong last night.

"Why futsal? Well, basically the artistes in the two countries could not come up with II players for football, so we thought about futsal. "Our aims are to increase the funds of Kaca and to strengthen the ties among the artistes from the two countries.

"For the local players, we asked hit Bruneian comedy group Kumpulan 69 to choose entertainers they know can play futsal and are capable of pulling in their fans. "We are hoping to attract around 3.000 people," he added.

Though Hj Tajudin did not wish to reveal exactly how much Kaca would be getting, Kaca's treasurer was not complaining.

"It's a good move, very good indeed," said Pg Hj Mohd Yassin Pg Hj Ahmad. 9 am very surprised. We didn't ask for anything at all and we will take what ever they give us," he said.

Tickets are priced at $50 for VIP seats, which include a meet the fans session and dinner after the match. Regular tickets are priced at $10. In addition, Liverpool Supporters Club Brunei and Manchester United Supporters Club will put their differences aside to play in a curtain-raiser for the match.

Tickets can be obtained at the entrance as well as the official hotel for the event, Asma Hotel, and at Foodzone Gadong. The two supporters clubs are also authorised to sell the tickets.
