The AFC.comTop physicians attend pre-Futsal medical seminarTuesday, 02 March 2010 ISFAHAN: Top football doctors and physicians from around Asia are taking part in an AFC Medical Seminar, which opened on Monday here prior to the the inaugural AFC Futsal Club Championship 2010.
A total of 20 participants, including seven team doctors from participating teams – New South Wales Thunder (Australia), Foolad Mahan Sepahan (Iran), Al Sadd (Qatar), AUB Altyn Tash Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan), Nagoya Oceans (Japan), Pro's Cafe (Lebanon) and Stroitel Zarafshan (Uzbekistan), attended the seminar.
There were also 13 doctors and physiotherapists from the Isfahan Sports Medicine Association and Iran national team present.
The seminar was held in Isfahan State University - Faculty of Medical Development and opened by Mehdi Mohammad Nabi, General Secretary of the Iran Football Federation.
"I am honoured to officially open this medical seminar. This seminar is very beneficial for the development of football in general." said Nabi.
AFC Football Medicine Director Dato' Dr. Gurcharan Singh is the Chief Instructor and he is assisted by Dr Ajaya Rana from Nepal and Dr Parhan Khanlari from Iran. They will also act as AFC Doping Control Officers and Medical Officers for the tournament.
“The AFC President (Mohamed Bin Hammam) is very keen on football development. He believes that football comes from education. AFC is also the only football confederation in the world which conducts medical seminars prior to any centralised competition." said Dr Guru.
The three-day seminar will end on March 3.
