National squad gathers for AFF tourney

The Vietnamese futsal squad have resumed training to prepare for the Asean Football Federation (AFF) Futsal championships after returning from the Asian futsal qualification.

The team, which earned a ticket to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Futsal Championships 2010 finals in Taskent, Uzbekistan next May, will train in the Thanh Long Sports Centre until the 2010 AFF Futsal Championships opens in HCM City on April 5.

Head coach Sergio Gargelli also called up more three players, including Ha Bao Minh, Nguyen Trong Thien and Le The Cuong.

Besides the host team Viet Nam, the tournament includes Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Myanmar teams but is without defending champion Thailand.

Teams will compete in the round robin format, with the two top teams entering the final.

In the championships last year Viet Nam finished second for the first time, only losing to Thailand in the final.
