Foolad Mahan crowns AFC Futsal championship

Iran's Foolad Mahan Sepahan team has won the crown for the inaugural AFC Futsal Club Championship after beating al-Sadd of Qatar 5-2 at Isfahan's Pirouzi Stadium.

The 36-year-old Vahid Shamsaee opened the scoring in the second minute of the Friday match. Minutes later Mohammad Taheri drove a shot into the net roof of the Qatari side, putting the tournament hosts ahead by two goals.

The Qatari side managed to score their first goal with only seven minutes to go in the first half when Shamsaie missed a header in a defensive play giving Qatari player Errahmouni Bilal the opportunity to take advantage by hitting Foolad's net, astounding the crowd.

Two minutes into the second half, the vociferous Iranian fans were once more taken aback when Bilal cleverly chipped the ball over the Iranian goalkeeper, Mostafa Nazari, and scored the equalizer.

The contest which was running out of steam towards the end with scores locked at 2-2. Life was breathed into the stadium with three minutes left on the clock when Shamsaie fed a pass to Javad Asghari on the right, and the striker hit the third goal for Iran.

The hosts put themselves further ahead of the Qataris when Asghari scored a quick goal. The last goal was scored when Shamsaie had al-Sadd goalkeeper Faraj Rashid rooted to the spot.

Foolad Mahan wins AFC Futsal Club Championship

ISFAHAN, March 13 (Mehr News Agency) -- Foolad Mahan of Isfahan beat Qatari Al Sadd and won the title of the first edition of the AFC Futsal Club Championship on Friday night.

The Iranian representative defeated Al Sadd 5-2 in Isfahan's Pirouzi Gym.

Vahid Shamsaee (two goals), Javad Asghari (two goals) and Mohammad Taheri scored for Iran, and Errahmouni Bilal bagged a brace for Al Sadd.

Nagoya Oceans finished in third place with a 6-5 penalty shoot-out win over Port Authority of Thailand following a 6-6 draw.

Iranian Club Wins AFC Futsal Clubs Championship

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran's Mahan won the title in the first Asian Futsal Clubs Championship after a crushing 5-2 victory against Al-Sad of Qatar in the final match in Iran's central province of Isfahan Friday night.

The hosts defeated al-Sad 5-2 at Isfahan's fully-packed Pirouzi Stadium on Friday evening.

Mahan's 33-year-old captain, Vahid Shamsaee, opened the scoring only two minutes into the match. Mohammad Taheri netted the second ball minutes later.

The Qatari side managed to score their first goal with only seven minutes to go in the first half.

The guests were able to score the equalizer two minutes into the second.

The contest was locked at 2-2 on minutes to the end when Captain Shamsaee passed the ball to his right to Javad Asqari who could easily hit the third goal for Iran.

The hosts put themselves further ahead of the Qataris when Asqari scored a quick goal. Finally, Shamsaee scored the fifth goal for the Champions.
