The Ho Chi Minh Football Federation (HCMFF) has revealed that a 16-team league-cum-knockout tournament is currently at the quarter-final stage, with four qualifying for the new Vision Asia League in September.
However, for the clubs to be eligible, they must first follow AFC Vision Asia Club Licensing Criteria. HCMFF needs to finalise this by the end of April before an AFC assessment in July.
Coaches for these clubs are required to attend the next two ‘C’ Certificate Course.
During a visit to the city last month, AFC’s Vision Asia delegation were informed that primary and secondary school leagues for U-11 to U-17 kids have been established and running, along with a girls’ competition.
In addition, HCMFF also organised a school futsal league for secondary and high schools and conducted a talent-hunting programme. Also, up to schools participated in futsal tournaments.AFC has already set out a plan for Project Ho Chi Minh for 2010 and 2011.
Proposed courses for 2010 include AFC ‘C’ Certificate for coaches in April and June, a Referee Preparatory Course in September and a Match Commissioner/Referee Assessor Course in August.
