Learn to play the Brazilian way with Boro FutsalMiddlesbrough Futsal Club are on the lookout for boys and girls to expand their junior section and are hoping local children will get into the Brazilian born version of football!
Futsal is a version of 5-a-side football played by Brazilians. Ronaldinho’s toe poke, Robinho’s stepovers, Ronaldo’s skill were all developed playing futsal. It’s an exciting game to play and will help a player to develop their technical skills, which can be transferred to the 11-a-side game.
Moreover, there are opportunities to excel in futsal. Middlesbrough have produced three England internationals and one professional futsal player in their short history.
Chairman Damon Shaw urges kids to get into futsal. “Futsal is such a fun game and every child we’ve coached has enjoyed it and learnt new things to take away to their football team. We also enter the junior teams into tournaments and the opportunity is there for the boys to train with the first team when they approach 16.”
The sessions take place on a Friday at Middlesbrough College between 6 and 9pm. Anybody interested should contact the club Chairman, Damon Shaw on damon@borofutsal.co.uk or call on 07807 146 319 to register their interest, making sure to state the age of the player. Boys aged 14-16 could start straight away, other teams will start when there is enough interest registered – a girl’s team is one that Boro are keen to establish.
Middlesbrough Futsal Club also offer coaching in schools as a one off or on a regular basis. For more information and to arrange a coach contact Damon Shaw.
