32 Cabinet Ministers Have Committed To Join Youth Day 2010 Celebration

PUTRAJAYA, March 29 (Bernama) -- All 32 Cabinet ministers have committed to join Youth Day 2010 celebration starting on April 14, Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Ahmad Shabery Cheek said.

He said the 32 ministers will be involved in more than 50 activities according to sectors and groups suitable to their respective portfolios.

"This is different from previous years where Youth Day was only a matter for the Youth and Sports Ministry and the Malaysian Youth Council.

"We are adopting a holistic approach to involve other ministries and parties," he said after opening the Youth Day secretariat here Monday.

Shabery said the ministry was cooperating with Putrajaya Holdings (PJH) to build a futsal centre with 11 courts in Presint 18 to host a futsal championship.

The futsal centre, the largest in the country, can accommodate matches involving 600 teams over the three day period.

Presently, all futsal centres have only eight courts.

"A futsal match between Cabinet ministers and the media or artistes with the media is also being planned," he said.

About 5,000 National Service (PLKN) trainees and 3,000 Malaysian Scouting Association members had agreed to become volunteers during Youth Day 2010.
