Futsal Slovakia
Report from friendly matches Slovakia vs Netherlands

by Milan Petrinec - International manager of Slovak futsal

On march 29th and 30th, we were pleased to welcome the national futsal team of Netherlands in our home country, Slovakia.
Both friendly matches took place in the cities of Bratislava and Nove Zamky.

First match was a special one for slovak futsal, as two great national players left the national team. Marián Berky and Martin Cambal have ended their international careers and have been awarded by Slovak futsal president mr. Ladislav Cambal, together with the general secretary of Slovak football association, mr. Milos Tomas.

The 1st match was an exhibition by Peter Halko, who finally found his way in the national team and ended his goal drought.
Our team played very well, fighting and showing some wonderful signals and entertaining the crowd of 1.000 fans who came to the sport hall Pasienky. The result of 7-2 might be a little bit hard for our guests, but as they also said after the match, the better team won. We don´t have to argue with that.

1st match result:
Slovakia – Netherlands 7-2 (3-1)

Goals: 3., 33., 36. Halko, 8. Selbach (own goal), 19. Mikita, 32., 36. Várady - 11., 32. Nejjari

Yellow cards: Rick - Nejjari, Rozenbeek,

Attendance: 1000 spectators

The 2nd match should have been a revenge for the dutch team who wanted to achieve a better result then in the first match. However, team Slovakia did not allow their aim. Wonderful combinations of our players, speed, agility and willingness to fight for the win were the deciding factors which led to our 2nd victory in 2 days. Player of the match: Peter Halko again, who achieved another hat-trick and added 2 assists.

Slovakia – Netherlands 7-3 (3-1)

Goals: 8., 13. a 25. Halko, 19. Rejzek, 34. Várady, 24. Mikita, 38. Brunovsky - 18. Nejjari, 31. Attaibi, 34. Mikita (own goal)

Yellow cards: Nejjari, Rozenbeek

Attendance: 400 spectators

We took revenge for the 2 losses from Netherlands in 2008, when our national team lost to the hosts with 1:5 and 2:3. We have to take these victories as a big step towards the goal of our national team: to qualify for the Futsal Euro. It is also important to keep working with the players, to support them and to keep the opponents coming. We need to measure us with the best team from Europe and the World to become better and even more competitive. Therefore, we will be facing France on the 25th and 26th may at home again.

We would like to thank the national futsal team of the Netherlands for coming to Slovakia. We hope they had a pleasant stay and felt, that we were very happy to have them here. Even though the results might not have been like they wished, we feel, that these 2 friendlies were a positive experience for both teams. We hope, that we will meet again in the future and we will for sure stay in touch, because it is important for us to keep our friendship with other national teams and associations.

Of course, I need to mention also the organizational part. Lots of people from the executive committee of Slovak futsal, local organizers from Bratislava and Nove Zamky have done a great job. The organization of both matches was very good. We hope to maintain this high level of organization and maybe even improve a little bit in the future. Slovak Futsal would like to thank all involved persons for their contribution and the time and energy they put into facilitating these 2 friendly matches.
